Darren White, the 2004 Bush/Cheney campaign chairman, is fear mongering and spreading misinformation about Martin Heinrich's commitment to protecting the American people and our freedoms. NM FBIHOP called White out. The NM FBIHOP report rightly points out that White is trying to make political hay over a phony issue.

Here's Martin's response:

I stand with the American people who say fear mongering is not acceptable. Not acceptable from George Bush, not acceptable from Karl Rove and not acceptable from Darren White. I agree with Bill Richardson that we can keep our country safe without resorting to unconstitutional, warrantless wiretaps. I support a strong FISA that authorizes our intelligence community to intercept the communications of foreign terrorists, not American citizens minding their own business.

Martin Heinrich will do everything in his power to keep us safe. That's why he supports a strong FISA that allows our intelligence community to intercept the communications of foreign terrorists. But, he also believes in protecting your Constitutional rights by making sure that the federal government doesn't listen in on the private phone calls of innocent Americans. Does Darren White really disagree with Martin's sensible, main stream position on protecting our homeland and our freedoms?

The real issue here is Darren White and his lockstep support for the tactics and policies of the Bush Republicans. His fear mongering and misleading campaign comes right out of the Bush/Rove play book.

As NM FBIHOP points out, Darren White is just another George Bush Republican who is out of touch with New Mexico. He writes:

Aren't we sick and tired of this type of demagoguery using false attacks and fear-mongering from the Republicans yet?

Darren White is once again showing us what sort of Congressman he would be if voted into office. The current Bernalillo County Sheriff would be serve as a rubberstamp for Republican leadership on just about every issue. His campaign website's issues page almost comically filled with Republican buzzwords and GOP positions.

There is no stance on any issue where White is contrary to the Republican party line.

From the issues to his fear mongering tactics, time and again, Darren White shows New Mexicans why he's a proud George Bush Republican.

New Mexicans are hungry for honest, effective leadership that will bring real change to Washington. Darren White doesn't offer it. Martin Heinrich will make us proud.
