Heinrich Bests Opponents in 2007
Albuquerque, NM – Former Albuquerque City Councilor and Democratic candidate for Congress Martin Heinrich filed his year-end FEC report today with an impressive $465,135 raised in 2007, which is more than twice his nearest competitor in either party. His receipts for Q4 were $144,801, showing a consistent strength of fundraising for three straight quarters. As of December 31st, his cash on hand was $277,146, which is over $100,000 more than any other candidate in the race for New Mexico's first congressional district.
The breakdown of contributors is equally impressive. As of December 31, Martin Heinrich amassed 1645 individual contributors with 1386 of those being small donors giving $250 or less, showing a true grassroots movement for his candidacy. Over 77 percent of Heinrich's funds come from New Mexicans.
In response to the numbers, Martin Heinrich said, "My campaign is about changing the way Washington works, and I am proud to have the support of so many New Mexicans as we move forward."
In addition to Heinrich's financial momentum, this week Heinrich received the endorsement of the International Association of Fire Fighters and won a surprising 83.3% victory in the Sandoval County Democrats Straw Poll. The IAFF was the third major union to endorse Martin's campaign.
