On July 14, 2010 the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund endorsed Congressman Heinrich for his 2010 re-election campaign.

"Congressman Heinrich has been an outstanding leader during his first term in ensuring that America leads the 21st century's clean energy economy," said LCV President Gene Karpinski.  "We are proud to endorse Congressman Heinrich for re-election because he understands that the policies needed to build a clean energy economy that puts New Mexicans back to work will at the same time reduce our dependence on foreign oil and curb harmful global warming pollution."

In his first term in office Congressman Heinrich is a champion on environmental issues.  Rep Heinrich:

  • Earned a 100% score on LCV's 2009 national Environmental Scorecard

  • Was a leader in rallying support for the American Clean Energy and Security Act.  A bill that would help create 11,000 clean energy jobs in New Mexico.

  • Member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition

  • Supported the single largest investment in clean energy in history with substantial investments going to job-creating clean energy and energy efficiency projects in New Mexico's First Congressional District.

"I am proud and honored to be supported by LCV and Conservation Voters of New Mexico," said Heinrich.  "As a nation, we must be committed to making America more energy independent while protecting the environment.  Investments in clean and renewable energy create quality jobs here in New Mexico and propel American ingenuity for a brighter economic future."
