RE: State of the New Mexico Senate Race Ahead of First Debate
As we approach the first debate in New Mexico’s U.S. Senate race, Senator Martin Heinrich holds a commanding lead over his opponent, multimillionaire former hedge fund executive Nella Domenici.
Polling consistently shows Martin Heinrich leading by double digits, underscoring New Mexicans’ trust in his leadership and their rejection of Domenici’s out-of-touch campaign. Domenici’s lack of transparency—particularly her refusal to provide straight answers on her stance toward abortion rights, support for former President Donald Trump and the Project 2025 agenda— and alignment with extreme, anti-choice Republican interests funding her campaign, has only highlighted how far removed she is from the needs and values of New Mexicans.
Martin Heinrich’s campaign has built a strong coalition of support across New Mexico, centered around his commitment to creating good-paying jobs, lowering healthcare and energy costs, protecting reproductive rights and freedoms, and ensuring that New Mexico’s working families—not hedge funds—remain his priority. In contrast, Domenici’s campaign is buoyed by her personal wealth and support from national, anti-choice Republicans who have invested heavily in her first bid for public office.
This morning, the Heinrich for Senate campaign released our latest ad exposing how Nella Domenici will enrich herself at any cost, including profiting off the fentanyl crisis devastating New Mexico communities.
THE FIRST DEBATE
The first debate will provide an important opportunity for voters to see the candidates side-by-side and hear firsthand how Domenici’s background as a former Wall Street executive compares to Heinrich’s record of delivering for New Mexicans. Martin Heinrich will use this debate to outline his vision for New Mexico’s future; emphasizing his plans to reduce costs for families, defend women’s right to reproductive freedom, keep New Mexico’s communities safe from crime and gun violence, protect New Mexico’s treasured public lands, and maintain his commitment to expanding economic opportunities across the state.
Nella Domenici will face significant challenges on the debate stage. Over the past few months, she has consistently avoided clear answers on her stances regarding her support for Trump’s agenda, reproductive rights, and her connection to Project 2025—an agenda that threatens democracy itself and the rights of New Mexicans. Domenici has further failed to articulate any specific policies aimed at improving the lives of New Mexico’s working families. The debate provides a platform for her to address these issues, and we look forward to seeing if she is willing to give New Mexicans the answers they deserve.
LOOKING AHEAD
As we approach the final stretch of this campaign, the Heinrich for Senate team remains focused on reaching every voter across New Mexico, emphasizing the importance of lowering costs for working families, defending reproductive rights, and growing New Mexico’s economy. We are confident that Martin Heinrich’s record and vision align with the priorities of New Mexicans.
While Nella Domenici’s campaign relies heavily on her personal wealth and the support of national, anti-choice Republican interests, Heinrich’s campaign reflects the community-driven support of everyday New Mexicans who know that Martin Heinrich has always put New Mexico first—and always will.
CONCLUSION
As the debate nears, we are confident that New Mexicans will see the choice in the U.S. Senate race for what it is: a clear contrast between Martin Heinrich, a senator from a working-class background who has dedicated his life to fighting for New Mexico’s working families and Nella Domenici, a multimillionaire former hedge fund executive who has spent decades away from New Mexico prioritizing profits over people.
