Tonight’s Debate Made Clear: Martin Heinrich Is The Only Candidate New Mexicans Can Trust to Fight For A Better Future

On issue after issue, Heinrich articulated his accomplishments and priorities while Domenici evaded questions—but finally admitted she supports Donald Trump and his extreme, dangerous agenda

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — During tonight’s first debate between Senator Martin Heinrich and Nella Domenici, New Mexico voters saw a clear contrast between Heinrich, a working-class champion who has delivered real results for the state, and Domenici, an out-of-touch multimillionaire former hedge fund executive who will enrich herself at any cost.

On every subject—from women’s rights, border security and immigration, to the fight against fentanyl and efforts to keep kids safe in schools—Martin Heinrich demonstrated a clear grasp of the issues, detailed his accomplishments, and presented a forward-looking vision to improve the lives of New Mexicans.

Meanwhile, Nella Domenici offered little to no substance on what her positions or policies actually are, and became increasingly agitated throughout the debate while yet again refusing to give a straight answer on whether she supports a national right for women to access reproductive care, including abortion.

The one question Nella Domenici did answer directly was one she has tried to avoid answering her entire campaign. Tonight, Nella finally admitted that she will be voting for former President and convicted felon Donald Trump.

The same Donald Trump who has bragged about stripping women of their rights and freedoms and believes women who have abortions should be punished, and whose extreme, dangerous Project 2025 agenda includes a national abortion ban, restricting access to contraception and threatening IVF access, and allowing the government to monitor pregnancies. Project 2025 would also gut Social Security and Medicare, end the Affordable Care Act and give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations while making working families foot the bill.
